YWCA Trenton'S CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY
The potential for a conflict of interest arises in situations in which a person is responsible for promoting one interest at the same time he or she is involved in a competing interest, whether financial or otherwise. If this person exercises the competing interest over the fiduciary interest, he or she engaged in a conflict of interest transaction.

The YWCA Trenton is strongly committed to avoiding conflict of interests at both its Board and Staff level and adheres to a strict Conflict of Interest Policy.

The YWCA Trenton has developed this Conflict of Interest Policy to ensure that all its trustees, committee members, and staff continue to act in compliance with applicable laws and to deal with all persons doing business with the YWCA Trenton. This policy is intended to supplement but not replace any applicable state laws governing conflicts of interest and permissible activities of nonprofit and charitable corporations.

No member of the Board of Trustees or Staff shall derive any personal profit or gain, directly or indirectly, by reason of his or her participation in the YWCA Trenton. Each individual shall disclose to the YWCA Trenton any personal interest, which he or she may have in any matter pending before the organization and shall refrain from participation in any decision on such matter. Any member of the YWCA Trenton’s Board of Trustees or Staff shall refrain from obtaining any list of YWCA Trenton’s clients for personal or private solicitation purposes at any time during the term of their affiliation.

All disclosures shall be made in the form of a written list presented to the President of the Board and/or Chief Executive Officer

If the Board, Board-appointed committee, Board President or Chief Executive Officer, respectively, has reasonable cause to believe that an interested person has failed to disclose actual or possible conflicts of interest, s/he shall inform the person of the basis for such belief, in writing, and shall afford that person an opportunity to explain the alleged failure to disclose.

The interested person shall have thirty (30) days to take such action as necessary to cure the actual or possible conflict of interest or to disaffiliate themselves from the YWCA Trenton.
