Jose A. Hernandez
After successfully turning around this multi-million dollar organization that was suffering from large debt, an aging infrastructure and dwindling revenues, Jose grew the annual budget by over 45% in just three years, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars in new revenue annually.

In a partnership with the YWCA of Princeton, he launched a bold movement called “Stand Against Racism” – a call to people from all backgrounds to have the courage to come together to stand up to racism and discrimination. Within two years, Jose ignited a national movement, inspiring and leading 70 CEOs of YWCAs throughout the country, which led to the participation of over 2,000 corporations and organizations in 39 states in the U.S. Through his leadership and organizational abilities, in 2011, over a quarter million participants have become part of the movement, which has been featured by ABC, NBC, and CBS networks and over 300 major newspapers nationwide. Jose’s initiative has also earned the endorsement of 5 U.S. Governors (www.StandAgainstRacism.org).
Jose is also the Co-Founder of the New Jersey Women’s Hall of Fame, which was created to recognize the accomplishment of New Jersey Women across all industries. In addition to raising significant funds for the organization, the hall has inducted leaders such as the Lt. Governor of New Jersey, Kim Guadagno; Civil Rights Icon Edith Savage Jennings; and Wells Fargo Regional President Brenda Ross-Dulan (www.NJWomen.org).
Recently, Jose has been recognized:
In addition, Jose served as Housing and Human Service Advisor to former NJ Governor Jon Corzine. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Nonprofit Executive Council of the Mercer Chamber of Commerce and as a Board Member of Children’s Futures.
Previously, Jose served as the Chief Development Officer for Renew International, a nonprofit organization with a $25 million budget. With his infectious “can do” personality, he built a wide-ranging network of both large and small donors that generate more than $5 million annually. He also secured a $1 million donation from the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. During his tenure there, Jose established the organization’s fundraising operations and introduced new fundraising channels including direct mail, planned giving, annual giving, special events, grant writing, and major gifts.
In addition to two Bachelor’s Degrees, one in Social Work and one in Religious Studies, from IONA College in New York, Jose completed post-graduate Social Work certifications at St. John’s University in New York.

Lucy Fasanella Lucy Fasanella has worked for the YWCA Trenton for the past 19 years. Her work started as a classroom assistant and through the years has progressed to lead teacher, head teacher, and just recently being appointed the director of the preschool.
Through the many years of involvement with the preschool, she has developed an understanding of the needs of the children and families who we serve in the community. In her role as director (and based on her ample teaching experience), Lucy works closely with the YWCA families to place the children in age-appropriate classes that meet each child’s individual developmental needs. We prepare each child for their future school experiences in a positive, nurturing way so that when they enter kindergarten they are prepared emotionally, socially, and academically.
